I Surf to Church

by Ted LoRusso

I surf to Church
On waves of grain

Jesus has a flat wet torso
He is my surfboard

He insists I sit on the lavender pew
With the refurbished rainbow lads

And the colored music
Lifts
Me higher than the grain

His big white Daddy stands up
Open his mouth and speaks

I run out to buy
Whatever he’s selling

Doesn’t matter
