Find the end you weaved some
time ago through finished stitches.
Don’t pull too hard or
the yarn will break.
Roll the freed end around
your fingers, start the core of
a ball. Then wind and wrap,
wind and wrap the crinkly acrylic
fiber over itself to grow
that ball of yarn.
Knots are inevitable.
Maintain a patient, light touch;
otherwise, they tighten, refuse
to budge, and you will need scissors.
You and yarn synchronize.
One cadence, one
entity. A symbiosis of sorts
you can’t explain except
for the desire to re-create, construct
anew from something old.
